From Trauma to Awakening: My Journey of Resilience and Healing
Discover how life’s challenges became a catalyst for transformation. Learn how resilience, self-love, and authenticity can guide your healing journey.
The Beginning of My Story
When I sat down to write this, a wave of emotion came over me. There’s something sacred — and also raw — about putting your story into words. For so many years, I carried my story silently, thinking it was just “life” or “normal.” But now I know, my story is part of a much bigger tapestry of resilience, healing, and awakening.
As a little girl, I asked endless questions. If something didn’t make sense, I pressed for answers. I was called a chatterbox, too curious, “too much.” Even at that young age, I noticed how the world treated people differently based on their appearance, their family, or their place in life.
This planted the earliest seeds of self-doubt — whispers that maybe I wasn’t enough just as I was.
Living Under Expectations
As I grew older, the labels changed, but the expectations only grew louder. Be smart, be accomplished, be attractive — but not too much of any one thing. My parents, out of love, wanted me to succeed, to achieve, to earn my degree and secure a better life than they had.
So I did what so many of us do, I chased the checkboxes. Career. Marriage. Motherhood. Stability. Outwardly, it looked like I had it together. But inside, I was struggling.
My first marriage became turbulent and unsafe. Divorce left me raising a son as a single mother while pushing myself harder in my career to prove I was strong enough to do it all. Later, as a woman of color working in a male-dominated industry, I worked twice as hard for half the recognition.
And then came the day I could no longer keep running. A recession ended the career I had poured everything into. Later, a breast cancer diagnosis shattered the image of control I had worked so hard to maintain.
Trauma as a Teacher
At the time, these moments felt like devastating endings. But looking back now, I see them differently, they were teachers.
Trauma taught me to ask questions that mattered:
Who am I without the labels and the roles?
What stories am I still carrying that don’t belong to me?
What would it mean to live fully as myself — without apology, without masks?
These questions opened the door to healing. They showed me that trauma doesn’t only break us down — it can also break us open.
Awakening to My True Self
The awakening didn’t happen overnight. It unfolded slowly, through rituals of self-care, through energy healing, through surrounding myself with mentors and women who believed in me.
I realized that resilience isn’t about “bouncing back” to who we were before trauma. It’s about rising into someone wiser, softer, and more powerful than before.
I learned to embrace authenticity — to speak my truth even when it shook, to set boundaries rooted in love, and to honor my body and spirit with grace. Healing was not about becoming someone new; it was about remembering the woman I had always been beneath the wounds.
A Reflection for You
I invite you to pause and reflect:
What expectations or labels have shaped the way you see yourself?
Which of those are truly yours, and which were handed to you?
If you could release one old story today, what would it be?
Write it down. Speak it out loud. Witness it. This is the first step in reclaiming your power.
Why I Share My Story
I share this not just to tell you about my journey, but to remind you,you are not alone.
Every woman I’ve guided has carried her own wounds — some visible, some hidden. But in every story, I’ve seen the same spark, the possibility of transformation. When women gather in spaces of healing, something extraordinary happens. Old wounds soften. New truths emerge. The feminine rises.

Closing Words
Healing isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about choosing, moment by moment, to honor yourself with love and compassion.
My story began in trauma, but it continues in transformation. And so can yours.
