Breaking Free from Limiting Beliefs: How to Reclaim Your Power
Limiting beliefs can hold us back from our true potential. Discover how to identify, reframe, and release them — and step fully into your authentic self.
The Silent Stories We Live By
For many years, I lived under the weight of stories I didn’t even realize I was carrying. They weren’t written by me, they came from childhood experiences, cultural expectations, and societal standards.
The voices whispered:
You have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously.
Your worth is tied to your body.
You’ll never truly belong unless you prove yourself.
At first, I thought these were truths. But over time, I realized they were limiting beliefs— hidden narratives quietly shaping the way I lived, the opportunities I accepted, and the love I thought I deserved.
What Are Limiting Beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are unconscious stories that tell us what’s possible or impossible in our lives.
They show up as:
I’m not good enough.
I’ll always struggle with this.
I don’t have what it takes.
If I try, I’ll fail.
On the surface, they may sound harmless. But they’re like invisible chains, keeping us tethered to old identities that no longer serve us.
My Awakening to Limiting Beliefs
One of my biggest breakthroughs came after my breast cancer treatments. I looked at myself and thought, “I don’t look like a yoga teacher. I don’t look like a retreat leader.” My body had changed. My curves felt unfamiliar. And with that came shame.
But as I worked through energy healing, affirmations, and reflection, I realized, this wasn’t truth. It was a belief rooted in comparison, perfectionism, and fear. It was a story I didn’t need to carry anymore.
I began to reframe it. I told myself:
This body carried me through storms.
This body is wise and resilient.
This body deserves love, not criticism.
Slowly, the belief shifted. And with it, so did my life.
Journaling Exercise: Rewrite Your Story
Here’s a simple but powerful exercise you can try today:
Identify one limiting belief you’ve been carrying. Write it down honestly, no filter.
Trace it back. Where did it come from? Was it modeled by someone? Taught to you? Rooted in an old experience?
Challenge it. Is this belief absolutely true? Or is it a story you’ve accepted?
Reframe it. Write a new truth — one that empowers you.
Example:“I’ll never be successful” → “I have everything I need to create success on my own terms.”
Anchor it. Repeat this affirmation daily until it begins to feel natural.
✨ This is exactly the kind of work we expand on in my programs,Healing The Feminine Wounds & Releasing Trauma and Root to Rise: A 6-Week Journey of Inner Liberation & Embodied Power.
Why It Matters
When you shift a limiting belief, you change your entire reality. The jobs you say yes to. The boundaries you set. The way you love yourself and others. Everything expands.
This isn’t about pretending challenges don’t exist. It’s about reclaiming your power to decide how you’ll meet them.

Closing Words
Limiting beliefs don’t define you. They are simply echoes of old stories. And like all stories, they can be rewritten.
The question is, what story will you choose to tell about yourself from this moment forward?
